Kirsten Voss

Operatic mezzosoprano and experimental performance artist Kirsten Voss pushes and plays with the limits of the classical vocal genre.
Since her debut from the soloist class of the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus ('22), she has performed as soloist with multiple national orchestras, such as Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, Danish Philharmonic Orchestra and Danish Chamber Orchestra, as well as sung roles with The Royal Danish Opera, Opera Hedeland and Copenhagen Opera Festival.
Her work as an opera singer and lied interpreter has been awarded with prizes such as The Léonie Sonning Talent Prize, Royal Danish Chamber Singer Else Brems Travel Scholarship and Hanne Lomholdts Opera Educational Funds.
Often working with contemporary classical music, she was a part of the Young Artist Programme for Composition, Alternative Performance and Performance Art 23/24 at the Britten/Pears Arts Foundation, and she frequently commisions pieces from and works with contemporary composers.
Platforming her work with experimental concert formats and new music dramatic pieces, she is the artistic director of TonalTeatret, where she facilitates and takes part in cross-artistic collaborations between composers, musicians, performance artists, choreographers etc.
